Choosing a theme for your WordPress website can be a daunting task. There are a lot of free options, and those may work for some basic needs. In my personal experience, paid themes have given me more variety, so I tend to choose paid themes in building my own websites.

Today we are going to be looking at Thrive Themes. This is a paid subscription WordPress theme that I have used on some of my websites, and I really appreciate the ease of use I experience with their service.

What is Thrive Themes?

Thrive Themes offers their products as a bundle in their Thrive Suite subscription service. With Thrive Suite you get the Theme Builder, a drag and drop editor, quiz builder, email lead generator, testimonial and comments plugins, A/B testing options for landing pages, a countdown campaign generator, and Thrive Apprentice, which is used to create online courses.

How do I Install Thrive Themes on WordPress?

Registering for their service is easy! Just go to their website and enter in your personal information and credit card or PayPal information to purchase.

Download the Thrive Product Manager Plugin

To download and install, first you will log in to your new Thrive Themes account.

Click on the green link beneath “download and install.” You will see it is called the Thrive Product Manager plugin, and once you have clicked on this link, a zip file will begin to download.

Upload the Plugin Zip File to WordPress

Next, you will need to log in to your WordPress website.

Now, anyone who is familiar with adding a theme to your WordPress site may be used to going to Appearance and then clicking on Themes. In this case, we are actually going to go to the Plugins option first, and then click on Add New.

Click on Upload Plugin at the top of the page. You will then see an option to browse and select a file to upload. Navigate to your new Thrive Theme download and click on Install Now.

Activate the Plugin

You will see a message that says that it is unpacking, installing and hopefully that the plugin has installed successfully. If you encounter any errors in this process, reach out to Thrive Themes for assistance.

Once you see the “plugin installed successfully” message, click on Activate Plugin.

Your installed plugins will be displayed, and you should now see Thrive Product Manager on that list.

Connect Your Thrive Account to WordPress

In your main menu options to the left, you should also see Product Manager. This is what you will need to click on next.

You will see a window that says you need to log in to your Thrive Suite account in order to access your products.

Enter the same username and password you registered when you purchased Thrive Suite to connect to your Thrive Themes account.

Once you have logged in, you will see a couple of rows listing all of your Thrive Suite plugins and the Thrive Theme Builder called Shapeshift.

Install the Thrive Theme Products

To install the products, just click on the check boxes for the products you want to install, or click on the Select All box above the plugin list. Then click on the green button at the bottom of the page that says “Install and License Selected Products.”

The next window will show the list of all of the products you selected, and their progress for the installation onto WordPress. This can take a while, and navigating away from this window will stop the process, so be sure to leave the window open until installation is complete.

Thrive Dashboard on WordPress

After your plugins are successfully installed, click on the blue button at the bottom of the window that says Go to the Theme Builder Dashboard.

This is where you will set up your website’s theme and branding.

We will go over setting up your Shapeshift Theme in a future post, but this is the area where you will design your website’s basic structure, layout, typography, colors, and templates for a consistent look across your website.

Go back to the Thrive Dashboard to see a list of all your Thrive Suite plugins. Scroll down and you will see more features such as the Access Manager, any API Connections you may want to add, Analytics, your General Settings and Global Elements.

If you need technical assistance from Thrive Themes, there is a support login button on the top right of this page. You can adjust the number of days you want to allow Thrive Themes to access your site and assist you using this feature.

Thrivethemes.com Members Area

Now let’s take a look at the Thrive Themes member dashboard on the Thrive Themes website.

Listed in the column to the right is a menu for Member Navigation. You can access your account information, see which websites of yours have Thrive Suite installed, browse through Thrive University courses, and find lots of helpful information on Thrive Themes products.

The My Account section will display your invoices, payment dates, website details, Thrive Suite product information and personal information.

Taking a peek at some of the Thrive University courses, you can find an abundance of information and sort the courses using the filters at the top of the page. You can find information about growing your email marketing list, landing pages, how to write better copy, creating funnels, increasing conversions and of course, building your website.

The Members Only Content area provides templates for purchase, exclusive audio, videos and posts, interviews and webinars, as well as a place to submit your site to the Thrive Themes team for a chance to have it featured as a webinar or website review blog post.

As you can see, Thrive Suite offers a variety of plugins and customization options to help create a well-designed, consistent brand for your website.
